Penang State Christmas Celebration 2009 - 20 December 2009 (Sunday) 6pm - 10pm @ Penang Times Square
The “PENANG STATE CHRISTMAS CELBRATION 2009” will be a Penang Combined Churches’ Event under the auspices of Christian Federation of Malaysia, Penang Liaison Committee (CFM, Pg), Love Penang Network (LPN), Penang Pastors’ Fellowship (PPF), and the Chinese & Tamil Pastors’ Fellowship in co-operation with the Penang State Government.
This will be our Penang Combined Churches Christmas presentation for the city’s enjoyment and celebration in remembering the birth of our Lord & Savior, JESUS CHRIST! We are appreciative to the Penang State Government for their recognition to this special occasion. Our Christmas Concert & Celebration will be a riot of colours, singing & dancing, meaningful Christmas presentations, sound & music of the diverse Christian communities in our rich and cultural nation.
The young as well as the seniors will enjoy themselves in this celebration as we share on stage the various aspects of our Christmas with the theme “Joy to The World”. The Christmas Celebration will be a multi-ethnic Christmas celebration. Hence, the Christian community welcomes fellow Malaysians to celebrate this special season with them to instill a better understanding of the Christian faith and to foster peace & harmony, goodwill & acceptance of all peoples.
Christmas is not only a joyous celebration in Malaysia as seen in the supermarkets and malls and in the giving and exchange of gifts to one another. The real meaning of Christmas as in the Gospel of John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Jesus Christ, the son of God came to earth to show God’s kindness and compassion for all peoples; to redeem mankind from the bondage of sin and release them into eternal life. This is indeed good news for everyone.
The Theme for our Christmas Celebration 2009 is “JOY TO THE WORLD!”

The Christmas Celebration will very much be a typical Malaysian open public event with the people in the community being welcomed to the occasion. A delightful & sumptuous food will be served to all! However, a major difference will be elements of the real meaning of Christmas being reflected in all our special presentations: on stage – songs, carols, band/choirs, dances, musical items, etc., and on the grounds – picturesque depictions of ‘live persons’ in Christmas apparels! What a great opportunity to declare Joy to The World to all present.
We are happy to announce the attendance of our Chief Minister of Penang, Y.A.B. Lim Guan Eng together with the kind presence of our Penang Governor, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas, who will officiate this special State event. In the spirit of Christmas, the Penang Churches will also be presenting five cheques with a total amount of RM10,000.00 as our Christmas gifts to 5 charitable organizations.
