Biggest IT Super Store in Northern Region
Ucapan oleh Ng Wei Aik, Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri bagi Kawasan Komtar dan Setiausaha Politik kepada Ketua Menteri bagi Perasmian Nanyang Digital IT Hyper Store di Prangin Mall pada 6hb Jun 2008:
First of all, I would like to record my heartiest gratitude for inviting me, and also to represent the Chief Minister to officiate the IT Hyper Store in Prangin Mall. With a 10,000-square feet IT super store, which is the biggest IT super store in Northern region of Malaysia, set its footprint in Prangin Mall, I hope that it will bring a new lease of hope and life to Prangin Mall as well as to revitalize the KOMTAR.
We are a business- and investment-friendly government. We want to create a dynamic environment for all sorts of businesses and businessmen. Although the recent announcement on petrol hike is nothing to do with the state government’s decision, but we as a responsible government will continue to implement some good policies for the people’s benefit and to create more higher-paying job opportunities for the locals.
To reduce our financial burden following the petrol and electricity hike, the state government will continue to ensure that the federal government to build the second Penang bridge as scheduled and to build Penang monorail as soonest as possible. This is part of state government’s effort to help the people to save money instead of strictly relying on personal vehicles.
As the state assemblyman for KOMTAR, I am very concerned with the development of KOMTAR as well as the business environment in the inner-city of Georgetown. As a first step, the revitalization of KOMTAR is critically important to ensure our business and economic circle is still alive and at the same time, to attract more youngsters to make a come back to Georgetown.
The efforts by Nanyang Digital Sdn. Bhd. to set up this super store should be commendable as a wise and brave move. I hope that more and more investors will move into KOMTAR and its surrounding areas to make the revitalization of KOMTAR a success. With this, I would like to announce officially the opening of Nanyang Digital IT Hyper Store.
Thank you very much!

KOMTAR use to be a must visit place when in Penang in back then. There must be some crowd puller attraction to bring back the crowd. The IT Mall as proposed is one of the crowd pulling factor as has been peroven by Low Yatt Plaza in KL that slowly is killing Imbi Plaza and even the IT@Sungaiwang.
